FUEL GUAGE (2.0Ltr petrol)

Post by mentaliss » Wed Sep 28, 2011 6:03 am

Is it correct that the dash unit does not return to zero when ignition switched off ( Im having problems as when the tank reads empty I can only refill 35-38 litres of petrol) I have done the earthing mods as per the fact sheet but with no avail!

Indeed! (or at least on my diesel, the gauge holds the last reading with the ignition off.)

1. Did you short the white 2 pin connector to the sender & wait a while with the ignition on, to see if the gauge went to full (regardless of how much fuel was in the tank!) If it fails that..? Could be the actual gauge??

2. Did you earth the actual tank to the chassis..? (It may not be a continuity problem with the sender to tank, but the tank to chassis?)

Where are you roughly based..?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Seconded and it was the fix I used on my fuel gauge.
