fuel/water filter - how good is it? wvo dewatering

Post by Paulinwales » Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:54 pm

Hi all, I am soon to start using wvo which has been filtered and using a twin tank kit ( to be fitted soon)

I am writing to enquire if anyone knows how good the water filter is on the fuel filter, and is there anyway to set it to dump water automatically? - i see a pipe on the white plastic thing i.e. can it be loosened, and setup to automatically loose any water?

there won't be any discernible water in the fuel, but just worrying about any microscopic stuff!!!
I get 200 L a month leave to settle a few days then runn of the good oil into filters (by hand), then i course filter the crud and after a few more days filter the good stuff (disposing of the waste), I then leave the lot for a few weeks in a large oil drum, and drain off any water from the bottom and pump off the middle good oil section with a pump for use in vehicle.

I filter to 1 micron at room temperature

this setup seems fine and is based on chipvans setup modified a bit to speed things up and suite my circumstance. I do however worry a little about the water content and wondered if anyone has any info on just how good the water filter is as i am considering fitting a second filter with a see through dome - i have seen one on ebay with a tap at the bottom to drain water, any comments?

rgds Paul

PS no sediment lights etc have gone on just like to be prepared
