Re: bongo sills
Wow - excellent find. And I had just been wondering, what with the current debate on rusting cills in progress, whether it was going to be possible to get replacement ones. Spooky! But encouraging, as it suggests the interest in repairing rusty Bongos is helping to grow the supplier market. Just need to make sure teh stuff being sold is fit for purpose etc. so all feedback on here is welcomed!nigelgibson wrote:might be readily available but i've not seen these before and thought it worth a mention.

Re: bongo sills
Suggests they are made from S/Steel meaning Stainless steel, welding this to mild steel can be more than interesting! and cause future problems. Maybe they are over sill covers or something?

Re: bongo sills
Wow - bizarre. It never occurred to me they might fabricate in s/s. Why on earth would they do that!?!?!lpgimports wrote:Suggests they are made from S/Steel meaning Stainless steel, welding this to mild steel can be more than interesting! and cause future problems. I am the one who commisioned them to make these as their metal vendetta is wider than mine. These are really a bodyshop fit only as some fettleling is required. They may be supplied in two pieces as their folder still wasn't wide enough. Looked very original when I'd done

Re: bongo sills
Are they is stainless though? is that not going to cause electrolytic corrosion issues if so? let alone the welding issues?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: bongo sills
hahaha, vendetta!! did it from my fone, meant to be folder!! I can confirm they are mild steel
stainless no good for sills
. Helpful company as well. As an aside, back in the day i attempted to weld a stainless exhaust trim to a mild steel tailpipe and blew my hobby mig up

didn't realise it was in new newsletter but as Ian has included it as a top tip one can hopefully assume they are ok. Certainly Kloonsy seems to be very clued up on them and they are on his doorstep.
p.s dont forget a lot of forum members don't have access to BF newsletter.

p.s dont forget a lot of forum members don't have access to BF newsletter., just thought it might prompt a few more people to have a look at the newsletter. When I had a look I realised I hadn't seen the last three
. It doesn't hurt to publicise something as useful/helpful as this info more than once though and was a good spot by you
.
Sorry Tessie if my p.s looked a bit smart**** it wasn't intended!
i didn't think you were being clever i just thought you [ and others reading] may not realise newsletter was for bf members only. Take your point about newsletter it made me read it and i also hadn't read last three ! [ i wont tell Ian if you dont !]
