Which Bongo 'How To' films would be useful to you?

This is just a suggestion.

If a series of short films where to be made on the theme of Bongo Maintenance etc for the Novice, what kind of topics would you like them to cover?

Know your basic fault codes...

What you do is have segments/chapters with the basic fault code flashing, a bit like a foreign language video..

The Bongoer then, when they come on here says "my flashing is like chapter 2 in the video", & a diagnosis can be made!?

A series of talking books would be great too..!

(Possibly read by Jilly Cooper, or the actress that played M in the bond films.?)
Something like Identify Your Strange Noises...?
"Chapter one; Manifold stud.. Chapter two; ARB's... Chapter three; Trim squeak." That sort of thing..?
Just don't leave it on if a prospective buyer is taking the Bongo for a test drive!!

I was going to say "Diagnostic Connector" - haven't tried it yet but you're meant to be able to test the fans actually work from there.

Anyone could probably list more ideas than you need/want, but I'll suggest a few that have been on my mind (both since getting Bongo, and now I'm getting used to it):

[*]A basic what's what - under seats, under bonnet, under vehicle.
[*]Replacing a stereo (inc connectors)
[*]Introduction to the different kinds of conversions
[*]How to get the roof down if it stops working
[*]Identifying the "Winter" components/telling the difference between Northern and Southern Bongos
[*]Installing EGR blanking plates
[*]Inspecting/replacing drop links
[*]Common(est) places for rust to develop

It's a good idea - I was just thinking that the coolant video on YouTube needs some friends!

What to look for when buying a Bongo.

Good idea. Although the fact sheets are very helpful, a video certainly gives a better impression of what is involved.

Given the theme of Bongo maintenance, start with the most common and work to the rarer events.

So some suggestions to start with:

Oil and other fluid/filter changes.
Brake pad changes.
Adjusting handbrake.
Changing lightbulbs - some of the covers don't come off as you would expect and forcing them could cause damage.
Fuel sender unit testing & earthing - alternate methods would be a bonus as I couldn't undo the screws to implement the factsheet method and had to drill the tank flange.
Flushing the coolant system to go with the bleeding vid. A tour of the coolant system would also be useful.
Changing droplinks.

making videos is a good idea, that said the more complex subjects are maybe best left alone,mainly because people will never agree on the best /prefered method to do it.
i remember the uproar that was caused when a group on here made the bleeding vids.the peeps involved wanted to put something out there as something was better than nothing.

in my opinion lets keep it simple.
basic buying tips and things to check.
basic component identification and function.
home service (oils).

i must admit to wanting to redo the cooling system video to include bleeding /flushing/pressure testing/component identifying and testing, as we as a group have come a long way in our understanding of it.
b*witched also makes the point that the films have to be of a certain length so as not to be boring, and easy to reference should you need just the key portion, not the whole blurb.
