Illuminated Ignition Switch
There is a little green light illuminating the ignition switch area. The bulb had gone so I replaced it. However it appears to be lit all of the time. I would've thought it should go off when the doors are shut or something. Anyone any idea on this?
Cheers Spud.

Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
Rather strangely that light is part of the Sound Warning System, which does have feeds from the Door switches but I've never checked it out to see when it is/ is not activated, the van is in for its service / mot today but I'll have a check if nobody else does when we get it back.

D1-01 is the IG Key illumination light.

Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
i know my one stays on for a while after i have taken the keys out of the ignition and locked the bongo, ive never hung around to see how long it takes to go out, i just know its not on when i return to it next, i would guess its timed for a period by a relay of some sort, perhaps your fault may be with that ?, not a clue where it lives though
Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
just been out to the bongo and the "key light" came on when i opened the door
Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
Down by your right foot behind the plastic shell of the pillar, click the diagram above, note the number of the connector to the module T1-01, then move on to the next page (Page 125 in this case) and all the relevant connectors are located in pictures of the van itself;MAZABON wrote:not a clue where it lives though

Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
I've never had a working one on mine - maybe these are not fitted to early model Bongos? Or have I always had a blown bulb

Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
they're on some but not others never really paid attention, but yes they are on all the later models, they come on with the door, and as said above they do switch off after a period (as above no idea how long!)

Thanks Julian - I'll carry on fumbling in the dark to put my key in the slot and get that motor humming321Away wrote:they're on some but not others never really paid attention, but yes they are on all the later models, they come on with the door, and as said above they do switch off after a period (as above no idea how long!)

Don't fancy fiddling with something that just switches off after a while

Yep, watched it this morning and it does go off quite quickly. I've also changed the bulbs in the one at the ashtray and the one over the rear aircon switches. They only come on when the lights are on.
Re: Illuminated Ignition Switch
Spud,
how do you access the one over the rear air con switches. Can't make out how to do it, even after looking at the Lush diagrams

ChrisQ,
I can help you there.. You will need to unclip the panel trim at the top & pull it forward.. You should then see two wires off the loom going to a bulb holder behind the hole with the green lens attached to a plastic cavity at the back of the trim.. Take out the bulb holder by giving a twist. (Similar to the ones behind the front manual heater control.) The rest is straight forward...
I didn't have one fitted at all on the illuminated ignition switch front, so i modded one fer the hell of it!

Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
