Roof rack Extensions

Post by M 80NGO » Wed Apr 20, 2011 10:46 pm

After buying a single and a double kayak it became obvious that they weren't both gonna fit on my roof rack, so it was time to get me thinking cap on and the drawing board out, this is my solution :D

Made from 2x2 and 4x2 this extends my rack by 16" in total

Hi fastgaphicx.....What sort of roofrack do you have ?....the one that M BONGO has looks like the one that I used to sell via the club shop....
If you could post a picture of your roofrack I may be able to come up with a simple solution for you... :D

Need to put my thinking cap on though.....now where did I put it..?....

Thanx for the comments guys  i must say that i'm very pleased with the results myself, the roofrack is a plastic item that i bought from a very nice bongo'er on this very forum my extensions are 54" wide but that could be as much as 60" if you need it to be, our double kayak is quite wide so i recon i could get 3 singles on there on there sides, the timber has also been pressure treated so water off the kayaks wont harm it. we do need a set of steps to get the kayaks on and off but thats no hardship :D

Pete.
