thks mikeonb4c - and who is the earth fuel sender mod god

Post by andyb36 » Mon Apr 18, 2011 8:02 pm

well id just like to thank
mikeonb4c

he just gave me my 1st real spare wheel after 3 years running - and then to find a flat skinny
yes it was flat omg - phew - but now have nice spare
did check a few times and it seemed hard - but no - flat as a pancake once i removed it
new spare all fitted

 now im a toolmaker engineer and could i hell work how to get the spare down

laughed my head off when i read the forum and found how to do it ,,,,,  :P

anyway next job - no fuel gauge for 3 wks now - just kept topped to max at all times

read about the mod before you rip all the carpet up

WHO IS THIS GOD - I OWE HIM A FEW DRINKS

got under and attatched a wire to the tank after i sanded a corner off and then sanded a pipe down - no not a rubber one [-X a metal one

black taped the other end of the wire and switched on and waited.......... [-o< [-o<

YES IT BLOODY WORKED omg ---- a working fuel gauge im so happy

it will be the only time i want to watch it slowly lower lmao  not too many times though

so bolted the wire to a convienient hole on the tank and then strapped the other end to the pipe and 1/2 a mile of black tape to seal

i just hope its the real deal and not the mod to check the dash gauge unit is working - i think its right the way i read it....................................................

good when it goes right -- and thanks to muz, andy and manda for the relay of the spare

owe you when we all meet up again

I drilled a 3mm hole in the large rear lip.... secured a wire made up with a connector eye with stainless self tapper......then extended the wire to the tank strap.....cut to size so there was enough to "hook" it through a "cut" in the lip and then terminated the end with an open connector.....undid and cleaned the bolt from the Tank strap (14mm socket) and then clamped the connector under the bolt.......easy job if your already converted and cant get to the sender unit easily.....if anyone wants a pic then I can take and post one.....after fitting of the new earth cable....waxoyl/Paint...whatever is your protectant......

No worries - its frightening to think of a Bongo trying to get along the road on one of those skinnies, let alone one whose rubber is 15 perishing years old :?
