Interior mirror removal

Post by camperman160 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:30 pm

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to remove the interior rearview mirror from it's mounting? My Bongo is a 2001 Aero(don't know if this makes a difference)
I'm trying to replace the mirror, leaving the glued on part on the screen. There is some movement, but must be some kind of catch inside the fixing. If anyone can offer advice I'd be grateful.

Many thanks
Dave

Careful as you go with this one Camperman, as i'm going from memory here... When autoglass replaced my screen, the chap took a very narrow bladed flat headed screwdriver, and inserted into a small slot at bottom of the mirror base (look from underneath, you'll see a small tab with a metal flange) He seemed to insert the screwdriver quite far in at an angle, then levered the mirror upwards off the metal mount... He made it look easy, but i bet it's tricky

Bigdaddycain,
thanks for the excellent advice. Worked exactly as you described, used a metal meat skewer and the mirror popped right off. Now I can get the auto dimming mirror fitted and connected up.
Thanks once again
