Exhaust emitting white smoke

Post by HeskinBongo » Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:20 am

Hi
Our bongo has been using about 3 pints of water a week, only covering about 50 miles

Runs fine, no misfiring but even when hot, still chuffs out smoke

What is it most likely to be ? and how can i check it

have checked oil and no mayo detected

cheers

Head gasket gone.

Don't drive it, you may save the head.

So your refilling it with one and a half pints of antifreeze a week or plain water?

Hiya .. mine was doing the same - before you fork out for a new gasket/engine i would give kseal a try you've got nothing to lose and could save you a packet.

since i put it in mine - no white smoke and have done over 2.5k miles with no water loss.

good luck.

Problem with K seal/steel seal is that whilst it can work (short term) it can also partially block up your cooling system which is not a good idea....personally I would bite the inevitable bullet.....or just K seal it and sell it on.....I belive there a few out there where exactly that has happened....very tough on the new owner !!!! one garage got a overheating one in and although it had only been with the new owner 3/4 weeks when it was stripped it had evidance of a sealing compound and had to be rebuilt including new Rad....Personally I think the stuff should be banned or some sort of obvious tell tail that it has been used incorperated.

I used steel seal after head gasket went again, worked a treat, not lost water in over a year
