Hi All (this is my first post),

Recently purchaased a bongo 95 WT type turbo 2.5L Diesel. On whole very good

I have a problem of the Hold light showing which when diagnosed (according to the Transition error code pdf doc) came up as code 12 (throttle Position Sensor) I am trying to diagnose further...

The vehicle does not kick down when i floor it ( i have to manually select d2/d1 for that) tends to iddle in a top gear on rd and rev down sometimes when going at steady speed/steady revs - in urban areas i find it best to go to d2 to prevent this as it gives me more control.

just wondered what i should do as HOLD light is Anoying, should I turn the TPS screw located somewhere on fuel pump on drivers side hatch (where, what's it look like?)

bit clueless to all this as never even doen an oild change before but quite willing to give things a quick go, Otherwide the bongo drives well auto fluid is a over fill level as I checked this
anybody got any ideas - have searched around and found a pic of the TPS but the piucture was not labelled so not sure what i should be doing also have tried looking under gear stick (auto) for a sensor and not found anything /can't get it off

help please if oinly pointers to documents been reading for days it seems

rgds Paul (North Wales) :)

I take it you mean Transmission? This thread may help in adjusting the TPS- http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... nt#p161814 - you may need a new one though.
Do a search on tps & there are loads of previous threads - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... mit=Search

I am just trying to work out if you have accually pressed the hold button on the gear stick! hence the hold light being on, or something more involved

Good point, if it's not flashing.

thanks for posts so far
:)
hold button not pressed it's flashing only starts flashing (error code) after getting to a certain speed around 40mph
hold button toggles on/off at idle so works normally at lower speeds

ps did mean transmission

Then I'd go for adjusting it as per dandywarhol's post in the first link.

that's great info and what i was planning but i was wondering how actually i fiddle with it ? and what to fiddle with? you will have to really spell it out for me!!!

is the tps the 466 thing?
do i thake the two screws off above and bellow and turn something?

nothing on diagram is labelled and never done any real mechanics before

is the tps the 466 thing? Yup, only thing in the pic with screws & only thing with wires - as it's a sensor
do i thake the two screws off above and bellow and turn something? As it says in the post, slacken the 2 screws top & bottom slightly so you can rotate the TPS slightly, then tighten them up & take it for a spin & see if it makes a difference, may be a bit of trial & error

finally got round to fiddling with the TPS and reasoned that that

clockwise = revs/changes higher /sportier mode
anticlockwise = changes gear at lower revs/ economy/slow mode

Balancing these two, I fiddled a bit drove around, stopped, fiddled some more and managed to stop the HOLD light flashing, resulted in and a much improved performance - changing gear like what i would expect, and much faster when i floor it since it responded by reving like what you would expect insteady of just chugging faster like before

Thumbs up everyone, hopefully it will stay trouble free! :)
