Somewhere unknown my ariel has snapped off at the base. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement. Could not find any in the Bongo shop!

I thought you were going to put your Bongo in the washing machine. 60 degree spin cycle?
Bongo Shop --> Exterior --> Aerial (last item, £32.50 with member discount)

The aerials are at the bottom of the Exterior section

Thanks for the above, chaps. I was agonizing over wether it was an 'e' or an 'a'.

Depends; 'e" for washing clothes, or 'a' for listening to the wireless

If you fancy something a bit different, there was a thread on the pimp my bongo forum about this:
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... lit=aerial
Basically, my aerial (think that's how you spell it!) got chewed up by my AFT. At the advice of Barrington and Scott (thanks guys!) I cut off the remainder of the aerial at the base of the chrome bit (where it joins the black plastic). I then drilled (using an m5 bit) into the "core" of the metal. This was dead easy because the aerial is hollow, so it's like a pilot hole has already been made for you. I then got an M6 tap and cut a thread into the hole, again dead easy, even though I'd never used one before. This then allowed me to screw in a Halfords £10 whippy aerial that
should be impervious to future eating attempts by the electric roof

Also, it's straightforward to remove should I ever risk going through a car wash
Personally I think the new aerial looks neater than the old one and I'd say it's probably as easy a job as fitting a replacement official part since there's no ball bearing to lose.

As Gigantor says dead easy and looks smarter too

also easy screw off

If I do the drill-tap-and screw the aerial with a Halfords job, do I need to remove the aerial from the side of the van or leave it in place to drill etc? I assume there is a wire connecting the aerial at the base.

I drilled mine in-situ, the connection is via the rotating hub there are no wires inside the rotating section. Saves loosing the sprung ball bearing which gives the locking detents

Excellent, will give this a go at some point as I discovered my ariel had been broken by the garage but I'd not really noticed before driving off and changing from CD to fm and wondering why it didn't work.........

.......for the tools etc. it'll be cheaper than a new one at £32+ or something
