towing a caravan????

We are getting too old for, climbing in and out, making up and taking down beds, living under canvas! Thinking of getting a caravn to tow, any advice ? 2WD diesel, AFT.

Same problems, got a small folding Carousel and no great problems, not much change in the fuel consumption either.

I think a lot of bongo owners are pulling 'eriba's' aren't they with ease

We had the same problem and are now enjoying both sides of getting away. Bongo still the greatest vehicle and comfy for the day but there is no getting away from the comfort of being able to SIT and then climb into a BED without bumping your head, knees etc. Only just purchased a caravan and cannot wait to be able to use it again shortly. Let us know how you get on with the new venture.

I've gone the other way towed for about 16 years and said i would never have a campervan to much hastle but it is not the case i have found one of the main benefits of a camper is on the day you go home you are very restricted as to what you can do and where you can go as you have to be off most sites say by 10.30 11 o;clock so your main option is to go straight home not the case with the bongo you can go where you want to (try parallel parking with a caravan behind) and the stress of towing these days with the size and speed of big lorries they take no prisoners its not very funny or relaxing when they pass you, then when you get home park it unhitch push it argue with better half saying she is not pushing i got to the stage that i needed monday off to get over the weekend not the case with a camper arrive home park lock up use other car for work monday morning having enjoyed weekend.

we tow a caravan with a v6 with no probs,still use the bongo for over nighting thougth.got the best of both worlds now.

We have a 2 berth 1000kg caravan, it's not a heavy one and our Bongo tows it easily. Many members tow bigger caravans with no problem, so you'll be in good company if you get one.
The generally accepted recommendation is not to exceed 85% of the vehicles total body weight. The weight of your Bongo depends on which model you have, a 2.5d AFT 4wd gross weight is approx 2260kg (as per the Japanese de-reg certificate), so it could tow 1921kg. That's if my maths is right... someone correct me if it's wrong, maths is not my strong point!
