Fuel gauge reads all the time !

Post by GrayRX8 » Mon May 31, 2010 9:34 am

Hi Folks.

I know there's been lots of threads on fuel gauge problems - bad earthing etc. But my problem is my gauge gives a reading all the time, ignition off even with the key out.( Temp gauge drops back to normal with ignition off)
Other than that the gauge seems to behave normal - Full when you tank it up and back down to near empty.
Not long had this Bongo its a 2ltr jobby just wondered if this is normal?

Thanx in advance.
Gray.

That's exactly how it should be :). Unlike the temp gauge, there is no return sping in the mechanism so it will stay at whatever point it was when last energised.

It's done deliberately to help thieves see how much fuel there is in the tank.

All Japanese (and I think Korean/other Asian/US cars) do it - just don't ask me why.
