bit of a whining noise

Post by bongomadness » Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:10 pm

Had the brakes sorted last week which are now spot on but have noticed a completely different problem which i am hoping somebody could answer please. When driving along there is a kind of whining noise that disappears if i take my foot off the accelerator.I dont know if it is a serious problem(she drives ok and starts ok)or if it is a diff problem. I am hoping not as otherwise the van is faultless but thought i would ask the wise ones here before i get a garage to assess it.
Thanks

OK - well in that case I'd be taking a special interest in the front wheel drive components (CV joints, front differential etc.) as its more common to get issues with them (normal wear and tear - CV replacement is an expected maintenance item) than with the rear end.

Have a good search on here using relevant keywords. Dandywarhol is (I reckon) our top professional all round mechanic and may be able to comment (PM him if he doesn't spot this thread)
