Suggestion for lost child identification

I would like to put for a suggestion to the forum.

What do you think about some kind of wrist band with the registration of the vehicle they are with.

Staff could then cross reference the reg with the name of the vehicle owner which could then also have a mobile number linked so that staff could ring the parents/guardians for safe return of the youngster.

I think it is far easier than trying to find a Bongo/Freda in the dark.

Just a thought.

That could work. You could also just have a mobile number on the wristband, or write a mobile number on the child's arm with a permanent marker. On the assumption that the child will be traumatised by the time a problem is recognised, being able to immediately ring the parent and even have the parent speak directly to the child to tell them to stop crying would bring a speedy end to the matter.

Good idea As long as the kids keep the bands on 24/7. or we could get them all chipped like you do your pets

Mobile number on a band of some kind is better, but what if there is no signal. We can at least look for the plate.

I don't really want to lose him, honest!! What I do at present (and have done since he could crawl) is attach a home made luggage tag to a belt loop (used to be attached to his reins) wih the relevant information.

I have since made him a special Bongo tag with the picture on our avatar on it as well as my contact details and registration number. The reason we've got the duck on the flagpole is purely for the boy's benefit. Narrows it down, although I don't suppose our duck windsock is the only one that's ever been sold in the entire history of novelty windsocks. I use it on the beach as well (OK, so no ID with him if he's got his trunks on, but at least he knows to look for the duck).

The home made luggage tag is basically a business card which has been laminated. He usually has another card in his rucksack and another in his coat pocket.

Just remembered, if we are going anywhere busy, I always take a photo of him before we set off so that I have with me a picture of him wearing whatever he is wearing that day in case he does decide to go off on one of his expeditions

I applaud this idea, as actually the bash is a very large field in a child's eyes with an awful lot of Bongos which look the same especially in the dark, only last year I escorted a child who had been walking a dog and got lost in the dark back to the parents bongo, and that was a stroke of luck because I recognised the dog and what area it was from. So if parents do turn up with their children wearing wrist bands with Reg & Mob No. I think it would be great idea

nice idea Chell -glow in the dark not a stupid idea either - kids generally love that kind of thing so are likely to want to keep it on.
You could have special pink glow in the dark ones for yours then we'd all know where to take them back too.
