Sliding door...

Post by RachelTaylor » Sun Jan 03, 2010 4:13 pm

Hi everyone,
I know there is a fact sheet on this, but we're still struggling so any help would be gratefully received!

We've had a great week away in the Lake District, complete with snow & ice :D (photos will eventually follow) but as we had hook-up & plenty of blankets all was hunky-dory... until of course we realised that the main van battery had gone flat - all at about tea-time on new years eve
We managed to get the van started with the help of the site manager, and went for a run to charge the battery, but the sliding door has locked shut.
Having read on the fact sheet that this seems to be a problem when the battery goes, we've tried following the instructions & suggestions but still can't work it out - or more importantly get the door open again.

Does anyone live near Stafford that could help (obviously in exchange for a few beers or something similar)? We had this problem a few months ago when battery went, and as it went in for an MOT at the same time, got the garage to sort it out for us - which of course worked quite well but we still haven't learnt how to do it ourselves so that didn't help on new years eve... besides which they charged us for the labour and so if we do that each time it is going to work out expensive #-o

I've asked Dobby, but he's not come across it before so though happy to help, it will kindof be the blind leading the blind!!

thanks

Rachel

Other members have had the sliding door jam shut after a flat battery, and there are a couple of good solutions on THIS LINK which (fingers crossed) should fix it.
Allans Garage retired. Try PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services Plymouth

Rachel - See PM

Battery died today, it has been slow for the last few weeks. Fitted a new one today and now my door won't open!

EDIT - 17.30pm - THANKS Doone!

Used the Thump it thread and it worked - needs a hefty whack with the palm of the hand about a third up the inside of the door. It should then reset and whirr and click as normal. Now just got to refit the door card and plastic trim :(

No probs Rachel, good to see you.

By the way, found the plastic collar thing from the door handle on the floor. Will keep it safe.
