Bongo won't start!

Post by monfluffy1987 » Fri Dec 18, 2009 8:51 am

Just tried to start the bongo... It cranked the first time, cranked the second time, then less and less but wouldn't actually start.

I can see now that the battery is nearly flat and won't crank at all. What can i do to prevent this happening again? It's a standard issue battery for the '95 4wd turbo diesel! Surely the CCA of the battery is rated for Japan (colder winters?) and so it should work at all times in the UK!?!

argh i'm 40 minutes late for work and waiting for a lift!

 Really annoying isn't it,
but I'm afraid the first real cold weather always lets us know if our battery is on its last legs,
£70 should have it back on its feet

I got an 068 equivalent for £48, mad by Yuasa Japan....from a local motor factor
Yuasa do and equivalents chart from JIS (japanese numbers) to EU type numbers.....http://www.yuasa-battery.co.uk/automoti ... ossref.htm

Try and use a motor factor as Halfrauds are twice the price....yes double the price and I got a 3 year Gtee with the Yuasa too

Numbers to look for...... 068 (Yuasa 030) or 249 -(Yuasa 335)..... for a bit more welly....mine starts on the key with the 030

Also depends on how long the run to work is? if it doesn't get a chance to recharge properly if you're using lights, heater, etc on a short run, that's not going to help. Also check it's not the alternator given up & not charging the battery & check there's nothing draining the battery.
