Sidelights not working - urgent help need for MOT tomorrow!

Post by barclay » Thu Dec 10, 2009 5:10 pm

Hi folks

Bongo is due its test tomorrow, and the sidelights have failed. Replaced bulbs, checked fuses...still no joy. Not very good on electrics!

Any ideas? Tomorrow is the last day for my free re-test!

try the relay under the bonnet passy side on the wing, should be interchangeable with the headlight one, under black rubber covers. Worst case scenario get any (30amp I think) relay from a motor factor & make up 4 spaded tails to get it working to get through the mot. If you've got factory fogs, that may be the same relay, maybe use that as fogs aren't part of the mot (not sure if they're supposed to work if they're fitted though?)

BDC beat me to it #-o

Front fogs are not tested in the MOT as they are not a legal requirement - fitted mine then had MOT - it passed :D then wired them up................................... about nine months later. #-o Well some jobs do take time to do.

OK, is yer symptom more like you put on your side lights, they don't work! & yer dash don't light or your tail don't either & The with the door open yer lights on beep don't scream to let you know they don't work??
If so then try the 15A fuse under the bonnet counting three in from the front? (Marked lights on the fuse box lid?)
I know you said you checked the fuses.. Give it a jiggle & see what happens if it ain't blown, could be a dodgy connection..?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
