Worrying oil leak :-(

As my coolant alarm bleeped longer than usual this morning and I've recently noticed a 'whine' from what I assumed was one of the drive belts, I decided to try and have a look at the water pump, in case the bearing was going and this was causing coolant loss. However, before I could check that out, I came across a worrying oil leak

towards the top of the engine under the drivers side. Engine quite wet .. though nothing on the tarmac (... as yet) ?
Hope to get time later this week to get her to the garage, but any ideas to prempt the 'ooh, that'll be expensive sir' routine ... ?
Bongo itself (a 2.5 TD) starts/runs okay .. with no engine temperature problem ... if anything, the temp gauge reading a little below centre.
TIA

I get confused by all this. I thought the EGR stuff was on the pasenger side with the exhaust stuff (not that I've ever had a proper go at identifying it so what do I know

).
What I do know about my Bongo is that under the drivers side is the fuel pump and injector. And what I thought might be engine oil making the side of the engine block look damp was I think diesel from a slightly oily diesel pump. Could this be it?

Or maybe its been EGR gunk all along (though it looks too 'thin' for that)

The exhaust gas comes from the passengers side, around the back and is bled into the inlet manifold under the driver's seat via the vacuum operated EGR valve

Aha! Thanks Dandy and that cheers me up a bit as maybe my Bongo's oiliness is due to that

Thanks .. that all makes me feel much better. Just ordered a blanking kit to isolate the EGR ... and then I'll clean up that area and keep an eye on things.
BTW ... can anyone point out the specific vacuum operated EGR valve (solenoid) as the one for my A/C is intermittent and I'd like to swap them (as they're about £75 new!!!).

The AC doesn't work from that kind of solenoid as far as I know - the 2 solenoids are for EGR and engine fast idle. I think the rear one is for the EGR from memory

4 solenoids in all, the rear 2 are for the egr front 2 are for cold start fast idle & a/c fast idle.
