Anti Roll Bar Bushes

Post by Bon go north » Fri Sep 11, 2009 5:40 pm

Dear all,

I have just ordered some front and rear anti roll bar bushes. I have a clunking sound from the rear of the old girl and was identified as worn anti roll bar bushes on the MOT advisory note. I have a 2.5 TD Mazda Bongo SGL5 1996, has anyone posted a description of how to complete this successfully for both front and rear.

Many thanks

Loads on here - have a search. You'll want a six side socket nut (for best grip - the star ones won't grip so well), and and extension bar in case they are rusted on tight. Get some penetrating oil or similar on the nuts and leave for a while to penetrate. Worst case, you may have to grind nuts off. replace steel u-clamps as well as rubbers as the clamps often fail with fatigue after new bushes put on. Good luck (done mine and if it goes well its a really simple job). Oh and for the rear droplinks (if you are doing them) and for both rear and front ARBs, get the car level (as viewed from behind) before tightening things up so the rubber mountings don't end up prestressed by an uneven Bongo!
