Hubby just arrived home with our new Bongo and on inspection the coolant level is sitting at low.
Should I be worried????????

Give it a thorough check over under the seats, make sure there's no leaks or staining from leaks, get a coolant alarm fitted & get the free doohickey from Haydn that resensitises the standard dumbed down temp gauge, gen up on the bleeding procedure via the factsheets just in case, top it up, & keep an eye on the level.
It sounds like you have a nice clean tank if you can see the level which is a good sign
Was it at the full mark when the bongo left the seller?

Coolant level is lower when cold than when hot (just so you know). Top it up in the morning when cold then check it every day before driving to see if it stays at same level. And fit a low coolant alarm ASAP as Kirsty says 8)

Ours was just above the "low" mark when we got it; a quick top up and it has been fine ever since.

I seem to remember Haydn commenting on this when alarms were being fitted at the bash, that the majority were low as most people don't check their levels [-X .

Yup, mine has needed the occasional small top up. Nothing much, but it does suggest it should not be taken as a given that it will never drop. The low coolant alarm is a godsend in this respect as I just wait for it to tell me when to do it (about once a year on present showing)

Thanks for the replies :D .
The level was lower again this morning so hubby has filled it up and we will see how it goes .
I will be ordering a alarm just in case.
My Bongo is a 2001 so perhaps that is why I can see it clearly!
Sorry if I sounded anxious, but you know it is when a new baby arrives

Have you checked for any leaks? Hopefully that was just it settling after it cooled, but it's worth spending 10 minutes lifitng the seats to check all the hoses etc if you aren't sure, good opportunity to check oil, steering fluid, atf levels as well as the air filter & generally have a good look around & gett o know your bongo.

Hi Teddy, congratulations on the new bongo! Did you buy it from a dealer? If so it may be worth checking with them the type of anti-freeze is in the vehicle, so that a compatible type can be used for topping up... (just in case the anti-freeze mix is a bit weak...best be on the safe side)
