Car Alarm Questions

Post by apole » Fri Aug 21, 2009 9:14 am

Hi,

Seen this the other night and was wondering about getting one for the bongo.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=219353

Does anyone know if it's easy to wire it into the central locking so that you can use the remote for the alarm to lock and unlock the doors (my remote key is getting old and tired)?

Many thanks.

Don't know the answer to that one Andy. However, I would spend a bit more, and get a system which also controls the engine immobiliser (e.g. http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/hornet-m ... -9688.html), as that will not only improve convenience but also security and to a much greater degree. The Bongo central locking as such is no security, as anybody with a wire coat hanger can defeat it. Cheers, David

Apole took me a few days to wire my cat one in but i soldered it all in and double checked everything 3 times :? , i bought from hawk, had it in 18 month now really good :!: im chuffed with it, i took advice from a couple of very helpfull peeps knowledge on here  I reckon there is a way to wire into the orig mazda door fob electricery thing think it is behind the glove box i think, but it is easier to put an actuator in direct from the alarm to the driver door pin

If you have the factory remote central locking you will already have an actuator in the door so it is fairly easy to wire the alarm up to the wiring for this. In my P reg old shape the whole radio control for the central locking was in the drivers door so I removed this and simply ran two wires from the alarm to the two wires that went to the original actuator. I used a Meta M99 T2 alarm (we fitted hundreds of these when we had the contract for alarms down at Trades Sales in Slough) and two years on it still works as well as the day I fitted it.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

Main reason I'm looking to get one of these alarms is to replace the key remote controled locking, the key is starting to get tired.

I'll check this other alarm out, thanks again.
