Sorry but I'm missing the problem here.
If you pressed the roof cancel button and the roof came down, not sure what the issue is?
It won't come down if the ignition isn't on and the roof cancel button isn't pressed anyway.
Sounds normal to me!!

When bringing the roof down it always stoppes 2/3s of the way down so as to check nothing is caught up, etc. This is perfectly normal.

The sunroof on the tin top's the same...
Stops about 1/2 to 2,3rds the way shut.. Re press the button, & it carries on till closed!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

the problem is that the van did not seem to know the roof was up in the first case so i could close it.

Sounds like one of the microswitches may be starting to play up.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Yep! Same switch... (No beep.) Though the later Tin Top's don't have sunroofs fitted apparently... Certainly the later ones i've seen! http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of02.html

Something on the Bongo that could be electric, but isn't  - now that would be novel.
