TowBar Help

Post by B*Witched Blingo » Sat Aug 08, 2009 10:04 am

Can anyone with Towbar knowledge help.

Forum member Yorkshire Puddings has what looks like an original Mazda Towbar fitted. Now the problem is it has not got the ball bit #-o

It is a circular receiver with a pin. Sorry no pic yet but will take one today. Unfortunatley the ball bit did not come with the Bongo. If I had a name at least I could google it.

Please if you help it would be appreciated. [-o<

It is called a receiver type tow hitch. This is a common type of hitch in USA, but unfortunately with a square receiver.

I have never seen a circular receiver and the usual square ones are to an international standard.

I have a US square one on my Jeep. The idea is that you can remove the ball hitch for off roading to improve the approach angle, or to change the ball for a pintel hitch to tow off road.

No idea where to get a round receiver type tow hitch. #-o The square ones are available from 4x4 specialists.

Unless someone could make one by modifying a square type hitch, the tow bar will need to be replaced. :(

Totally right as usual Kirsty. Apollogy for ignorance.

Its a pin system circular tow ball. Just like the US one but round. Problem solved by you as usual.
