Ford ranger and Bongo Diff??

Post by jonah » Fri Aug 07, 2009 7:29 am

Does anyones know if the above are compatable when it come's to the front Diff on a 4x4?
i've been advised by a transmission guy that they are the same, so i sourced one from an 06 reg ranger to fit to bongo, took to my mechanic for fitting and yup you guessed it, doesn't fit.
not sure if i need an earlier ranger as mine is a 96n 4x4 bongo.
Any help/advice would be great, as to be honest, i'm completely out my comfort zone when it come's to mechanics!
picked the bongo up on tuesday afternoon, RAC had to help me finish the journey.....

Thanks

Can you not source a bongo one? or is there a huge price difference? Try Bongobits, Bellhill, Wheelquick etc,
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Massive price differance to be fair, but since this morning i've found out that the 2 are definitely not compatable.
i've sourced one from Ian Taylor which will be delivered on monday, so fingers crossed by this time next week i'll have a happy conclusion to what was probably one of the worst starts to bongo ownership i could have expierenced.

Thanks for the tips on breaker's.

Could this be why the Bongo was up for sale? Any redress from Vendor likely or indeed possible?

that's what the general consensus of my friends/workmate's have intimated Marcus, but to be honest, none of them met the vendor, i did and i really do think he's a genuine guy. From the point where i 1st contacted him about the problem (on the hard shoulder of the M6!), he has been in contact with me several time's and has even offered to meet me half way on the total expected repair bill, he was as shocked as i was.
There's allways a risk involved when purchasing anything second hand through the private ads, guess i've just been unlucky.

still waiting for the diff though.... due to arrive wednesday now, then fitting, all goes well i could be out an about the weekend [-o<
