Haydn coolant alarm.

I have just fitted Haydns alarm and it works well but I have a start-up/test 'whiiiiiiiiiiistle' 4-6 secs (also the led stays on) not a 'bleep-bleep-bleep' (or led flash-flash-flash), is this normal ?
It is connected to the cig lighter but I'm thinking of connecting to the red ign wire from the ign switch as from the cig lighter it arms twice first when turning ign key to ACC then off while the engine starts then on again when ign key returns to RUN.
Can I mute the 'whistle' as my led is in one of the top unused switch blanks and shows up very well - even in strong sunlight.
Maybe 'the Master- Haydn' can advise if I should have a whistle or bleep sound ?
Not a big problem but the whistle when switching on is starting to annoy me.

Thats perfectly normal

the 2 "checks" are because the battery uses just about all juice to start the engine

you want the whistle so if you get a problem there is no way you will miss the warning

The sound can be cut down to a blip rather than a long whine by fitting a second screw well below the level sensor and earthing it make sure you use a stainless screw and be carefull to drill with the correct size bit.

Interesting......the test Beep/LED flash is normally around 2/3 secs.
The reasons it could be longer are....cold (in the morning) or weak coolant strength.
As mentioned above...you can make it much shorter by putting a 2nd screw in the tank, below and at least 2cms away from the one already fitted and connecting this by a wire to a earth point...(contact me if you do this for a correct grade SS screw).
If you want to "mute" the buzzer...stick a bit of sticky tape over the buzzer hole or bung it up with Bluetack/chewing gum, But personally I would just add the earth wire sensor.

My alarm used to "whistle" when i had a slow leak from a coolant pipe... In other words, upon a cold start up when the coolant level was on the lower sensor, topping up to full stopped the whistle

Mny thks for all your quick replies I will take Haydn's suggestion and mute with blu-tac. I dont want to drill another hole in the exp tank.
