Passenger window not working?

Post by freshprince » Mon Aug 03, 2009 2:13 pm

What could be the cause?
Motor?

I'd take the door apart to check this... however, the van is in France and I'm not.
So, are there any common faults with this?
And how hard will it be to fix when I get out there? What will I need to take with me?

Is the switch on the drivers side in the right position? Common problem - gets knocked & then passy side doesn't work  If not that, it could be the wires between door & frame, kinked & shorting out.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

I will ask her next time she calls...

however I get the impression it was being tempermental prior to stopping... so shorting is possible?
Are the motors a common problem? I asked if there was any noise when pulling on the switch and apparently there isn't...

anything else it could be?
how hard is it to remove the door card?

Cheers

Motors not a common problem, wiring is, could also be the selector switch on the back of the drivers switch playing up, a bit of contact cleaner may solve it. get her to try wiggling the drivers side selector switch while trying the window, & if that doesn't work, wiggle the wiring bundle going through the door doing the same. Does it not work on both switches - driver & passy side?
Reasonably easy to remove the door card, easy enough to see what needs to be undone.
