Side door and Roof wont open?

Post by gor109 » Fri Jul 10, 2009 10:28 am

Hi, I have recently replaced the battery on my Bongo however my son put the cables on the wrong way and since then both the side door and roof wont open. Have i fried something? Has anyone ever came across this before? Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Have you checked all the fuses both in the dashboard and under the bonnet?

Don't know about roof, but the side door DOES sometimes get confused after disconnecting the battery. Read this:

In short - give the door a kicking from inside :D

Will have a look soon and try the Thump method. Does the handbrake have to be on for the roof to go up?

Yes, If it still doesn't work, check the contacts on the switch at the back of the handbrake under the console, these often become scuzzy & need a bit of a scrape.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

There is a fact sheet in the members area - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... ngdoor.pdf - you have to be a paid up member (link at the top middle of this page) but for the few quid it costs - well worth it - access to loads of factsheets, bongoshop discounts & it means you can come to the club meets amongst other things.

I took my panel off (IIRC: remove plastic trim, then the plastic door panel has to be pulled/peeled off- might have been those little plastic push in things - scrivets is it?)

Once inside the door, you'll see a control box roughly central. Someone posted that you can force the actuator from there, by wiggling the linkages that connect back to it. I tried that, didn't work, so I booted it (much harder than before as I was fairly p***ed off by now) everywhere, and then heard the good old sound of a Bongo door close mechanism.

I'd try more booting before taking the door apart, seriously.

Folks thanks for the help. Both Roof and side Door now open great.
Door took a bit of foot power but worked fine!

By 'eck! Bongo Fury triumphs again!
Just had the same problem with the Nufbus and a well placed technical thump has saved the day.
Thanks Guys and Gals, we think you're Great!
Hope to see some of you at Hayling Island.
Pete & Sue

Turned out nice again!
