radiator leak

hi all
i have been through the search rout but cant seem to fined anything like the problem i have got
witch is all along the top of my rad has just started leeking it is weard one day nothing next day puddle

so dose anyone have a clue cose i am shore i dont

This has happened with a few people, it splits along the top of the rad along the seam, you'll need a new rad I'm afraid, you may be able to find someone that can recore it, but it'll probably cost as much as a replacement new rad to be honest.
Just make sure it's bled properly as per the fact sheet instructions once its done, good opportunity to flush through the rest of the system too as you'll have to replace the coolant anyway.

Oh and general agreement here is its worth paying extra for a quality one. Word is that some of the cheapos on ebay don't work as well (fewer tubes? etc.?), and thats not good news for a hard working Bongo

So check the spec before writing your cheque

You also might want to find out WHY the top crimps failed.

It could be old age, or it could be because the system has become pressurised.

Don't mean to worry you, but you wouldn't want to kill a 2nd rad in finding out...

I have the cheapie from Ebay fitted just now, I will be getting an original next.....maybe sooner that expected.

Also on an original there's no silly pipe at the fiiller neck that needs blanked.

I had the same problem & was glad I had a low coolant alarm as a I was just starting a 250 mile motorway run!!

Allans in Plymouth supplied & fitted mine, so he may well be worth you trying. He put a heavy duty one in, which I think is all brass as opposed to plastic and aluminium. Cost a bit more but I suppose I get a bit extra piece of mind. Having said that, the original plastic and ally job lasted 13 years....
