K & N airfilters thinking of changing my air filter

I'm thinking of changing the standard paper air filter to a K&N air filter part no E-9280. Does anyone have views on this or have used the filters. I understand the airflow is increased. I have the normal 2.5td engine, will this be ok with the K & N filter?

yep - might make the engine a little perkier, increases the induction noise a tad and lasts forever!
I just cleaned and reoiled mine yesterday after abot 15000 miles - some of it on dusty eastern european roads/tracks......it was needing done!

I take it from your reply you have been using the k&n filter on your bongo, has the mpg increased? does the extra air intake have any bad effects with the engine?
Cheers Paul

Can't detect any mpg improvement, but I THINK it feels a little sharper on aceleration. It won't do any harm to the engine unless you think the standard/aftermarket filter will filter more dust out.

Yeah, my only concern was the extra air intake with the K&N if this would cause any problems, it seems not

I've been using one for about a year. Like Dandy, I've not noticed any difference to fuel consumption, but it does seem to run better

Great, if you've had no problems and been using the filter for a year it sounds a fairly good investment

Mines been in about a year too, I'd say it felt a tad more lively once fitted. certainly not noticed any negative effects.

Mmm. Been thinking about trying out one o these K & N filters after seeing an ad on the gents wall in a service station...
So the performance improvement's not just a fallacy then?

I'd be careful about those ads Jaylee

True. A3 size ad above the stalls, blah "so many years of air filters, performance", blah blah!!
There was one for breakdown cover too!

"Look up"
"You're now p*ssing on your shoes"
Trouble was - it was correct!!

Changed mine a couple of days ago. Certainly feels a bit more sprightly but that could be just because it needed a new filter anyway. It makes me feel better inside though and that is what matters, eh?
