fuel sender earth wire colour help needed.

Post by ukroy » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:50 pm

Just read the threads about the fuel gauge problem, which answers my last post, my next question is which of the 2 wires on the fuel sender is the earth wire? I take it then that this wire just needs earthing on the screws that hold the plate down?
Have I got this sussed?

The wiring diagram suggests;
LG/Y - Light Green/Yellow strip is the signal,
B - Black earth
O -Orange for low level light

The colours given have been known on occasions to be wrong or different .......

I fixed mine by removing the whole sender unit and drilling the top off the brass rivet that holds the sender connector block on. I cleaned it all up underneath, coated it with Coppaslip and re-attached. All good now, but a long winded way of going about it but that is just my OCD kicking in again :shock: .

You can track the earth wire by looking at the spade connectors on the block and the one that goes down the side of the block and curves under to contact the sender cover plate is the earth. The other goes to the brass rivet that holds the block onto the plate.

I would advise doing the simple fix!
