switching electrics
I have bought a new conversion from someone not au fait with all of it (had it done to sell). Everything works off the mains supply, but I don't know if the leisure battery works, or kicks in. It has a fuse type box mounted labelled 'F&S' with what looks like two mains fuses switches and a third single switch in a similar style with on and off positions. Would this one switch it between running off the battery or the mains? I can email a picture. Otherwise, where else should I look for switches, there appears to be no others. Thanks. Sev
Re: switching electrics
Rather difficult to say without at least a picture (see here for putting pictures up), but that sounds like a Consumer Unit, which has a single isolation switch and two MCB's (Miniature circuit Breakers) which will control / protect the 240 volt circuits. You do have a standard 13 Amp 240 volt socket mounted somewhere ?
What and how the 12 volt L/B and its circuits are controlled is another matter altogether. You may (or occasionally may not) have a Relay that controls the charging of the L/B from the alternator, often refered to as a Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR) and that will automatically control charging of the battery whilst your driving. Some installations also have a 12 volt charger / supply that is driven from the 240 volt supply and will charge your L/B whilst connected to a Hook-Up, usually this sort of set-up will have several other switches and fuses labelled in some way. If the conversion was a DIY job then rather difficult to say, if it was done by one of the Conversion Companies then you might get the best info from them.
