Hi all
I took my (UK) Bongo to a local garage here in Holland as I'd notice a little puff of smoke occaisionally, and also sometimes got a wiff of diesel (especially when stopping for traffic lights etc.
They diagnosed a leaking fuel pump, and after a few swift phone calls, managed to get them to just replace the seals (cost 35 pounds) instead of sending it away for a refurb at over 1,300 euros.
They haven't received the seal kit yet, but they're already quoting me 8 hours work at 70 euros/hr(!!!!) just to diagnose it and remove it from the van. Would other techies here know how long it should take. Are they taking the piss?
Any opinions appreciated.
Simon

Re: Leaking fuel pump
Do we assume yours is a petrol V6 shs? I've read several posts about leaky diesel pumps but none about petrol ones......yet!
Re: Leaking fuel pump
Ah yes sorry - it's a 2.5l diesel....
Re: Leaking fuel pump
I've edited your first post to make that clear to other members who may be looking for info.
If you think your quote is bad, think of the guy who was quoted the equivalent of £6000 (in Portugal) for the supply & fit of a 2nd hand gearbox.
