I cant belive it, today i had a call from my mechanic, he said the bits are in for the service i need and to bring it to him on wednesday, so i said ok.
When i finished work however i decided to go and say hello before hand to catch up (hes my uncle btw
) and have a look at what he had bought in for me. I only live around 5 miles from work and his garage in only half mile from my home. so not a very long journey. When i had pulled up, whent to get out of the van..................NO..............WHATS THAT......................................STEAMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
...............and guess what?
My radiator has gone, flooded his garage area with coolent in around 5 seconds and emptied the tanks. am i luck or what? talk about the right time right place.......
Upon closer inspection, under the big black plastic air intake thing lies the rad, not sure if yours are the same but mine all accross the front edge on the top has about an inch thick foam accross of it??? When touched it crumbled away, so it has to be the origional radiator, on a side note it is probebly worth checking if yours has never been changed. This is where my rad has gone anyway. When he removes it i will try and take some pics before it goes in the skip.
On a major co-insidence, while on my lunch break at work
i was looking at coolant alarms, so when the new rad goes in, so will one of these too.
If any of you are reading this and thinking, "ok its a serious matter, il check everyday but it probably wont ever happen to me!"........Your most likely in for a big expensive shock.
Heed the advice given on here many many times, get yourself a coolant alarm!
If i hadnt pulled up when i did, but instead continued on home half a mile away i prob would of done some serious damage! hopefully i havent.
The choice is always up to the owner ofcourse
, its £70 plus fitting or another £5000 for the van of your choice??
