Hi people, newbie needs help.....

Hi, sorry, just realised this should be in techie,

Ive just bought a 4x4 2.5TD, I'm not too bad with a spanner so aim to do all the servicing and stuff myself. However, after looking at the air filter it needs a change so I'm going to do a little service on it including oil and filter, it had a cam belt not long back so what I need to know is:

1. What other filters should I change while I'm at it and where can I find them?
2. Is it easier and cheaper to buy them seperately from other sites or a service kit from here?
3. is there anything else you'd recommend I'd do?

Also it could do with a clean inside, so can anyone recommend anything to use on the upholstery? I'd also like to wash the blinds but it looks a bit tricky getting them off, any ideas how I can clean them?

change the fuel filter and if not been done check the water hoses and change the anti freeze BUT its better to get a garage to change the anti freeze because if you don't bleed the system properly you could cook the head

Welcome to the forum
1 - as Carl said, the fuel filter ( under the drivers seat - you should be able to get it off from above) if it hasn't been done in the last year, check the banjo filter (fuel strainer) on top of the fuel pump too, factsheets in the members area on both.
2 - try your local motor factors, may be worth getting a K&N air filter, around £40 initially, but you don't have to touch it for 50k miles, then you reuse it.
3 - thorough flush of the coolant system, along with a check of all the hoses , pipes rad etc, probably worth changing the thermostat while you're at it, just did mine & the one that came out opened a fair bit later than the new one when I tested them in a pan of water on the stove.
Also drop or pump out the gearbox fluid, drop the pan carefully so you reuse the gasket, clean the filter, blow through the oil cooler pipes & replace with clean Dexron III.
Be worth doing the diff oil too.

For the blinds, there is an excellent factsheet in the members area on removing them to clean - definitely woth it - a bit tricky, but once you've done one, you'll get the hang of it

That should keep you busy for a coupla days
