Post by bongo bongo » Mon Mar 30, 2009 7:09 pm

Hi everyone, just fitted the vito fiamma bike rack to my bongo, looks great, tried the weekend to fit 4 mountain bikes on the rack and found that 2 bikes went on ok but bike block 3 and 4 wouldn't reach the 3rd and 4th bike any suggestions or pics would be greatfully appreciated
thanks in advance

I regulary carry four bikes ...
... but only use the top clamps for the two inner bikes.

The outer two are held using the rail straps and bungees at the top ...

Never had a problem, but always make sure there are two bungees in case one fails ...

I had a 3 bike rack and carried mountain bikes. I didn't have a problem so long as you made sure the bikes were vertical (ie not sloping outwards). This involved reversing direction on each alternate bike, staggering the position of the rails to ensure pedals didn't foul etc. The adaptability of the upper arms also helped. On the outer ones you may have to route the arm through the frames of the preceeding bikes rather than over the top of the crossbar.
