Re: How do you remove Chrome mirror covers
I think they're held on with big sticky pads. Some gentle heating with a hairdryer may soften the adhesive. Alternatively, could you transfer the workings from the new one to your old casing?

Re: How do you remove Chrome mirror covers
Very careful... Myself and mike from wheelquick tried in vein to remove a set once...We gave up for fear of them breaking!
They must come off somehow though, second hand chrome covers do crop up on e-bay from time to time.

Re: How do you remove Chrome mirror covers
The chrome covers are difficult to remove but it can be done
if you're carefull. There is a siticky pad about 4 inches square
between the chrome cover and the plastic mirror housing.
A hair dryer, in my experience, does not provide enough heat.
You need a heat shrink gun and constantly move it over the
whole chrome area until you can hardly bear to touch the
surface, then immediately grip the top and bottom edges of
the chrome cover and pull as hard as you can.
I have changed several pairs and one thing I will say is don't
leave the wife to heat it up while you're replacing the other one.
I did once and she got distracted and left the 500 Watt gun
in the same position while talking to a neighbour and melted
the surface in 3 positions. I was lucky, I managed to buy a
brand new same side one from the AA man at a Bongo Bash
who was packing up to go home and was on the point of
dunping it in the rubbish bins. I paid a tenner for it.
Ben.
