Loss of Power

Post by toddbarden » Sat Mar 14, 2009 1:02 pm

Im looking at traveling to the south of france this summer in my fantastic bongo. However....

After about 30miles i have a massive loss of power. Ive only ever driven this bongo locally on short trips so Ive never really noticed it before as it drives fine on short trips. Once its stopped for a bit it drives fine again.

Can anyone shed light on this problem. Could it be the head gasket?

Starts no problems
Doesn't overheat

nice one

Blocked breather on the filler cap?

When it conks out, try taking the filler cap off and see if there is massive suction behind it.

If not that, try changing the fuel filter.

If yours is a diesel it could be something to do with the exhaust gas recirculation thingy. Valve might be the word I am looking for. I've just had pretty much the same problem in my Fiat Multipla and had to have the offending bit replaced.

Could be talking rot here, so hopefully a more educated and mechanically minded individual could enlighten you as to what I might actually be on about :?

What's with the  ? You really have absolutely no idea how right you are. If I can find something for him to stand on he will be fitting my Willinton Leisure Battery kit when he's got time. He might not be so good with electrics as with the mechanical side of things, but we shall see.
