Sun Roof AFT.
I have just given my Bongo Camper its pre season sprus up. Full wash and wax etc, whilst up on ladders to reach the full extent of the roof I came across the following. There is a gap about 8mm wide & 10mm deep all around the sun roof which has filled with all sorts of debris / algea etc. When washed and it will be the same when it rains it fills with water. To get it cleaned out was a tricky job and I used my air line to blow out all excess water. On inspection there is no drain hole/tube to deal with this trapped water. Surely its going to degredate the roof meterial or cause a leak. My question is, should there be a rubber trim fitted in this gap. If not, would it not be prudent to fit one. If there should be one, then mines missing and where would I get something suitable to do the job. Any ideas about this out there? I'm open to suggestions as to if it's a good idea to fit trim even if it was not origonal spec.

Sounds like you have an external seal missing?

Now you will find who cleans and polishes their AFT........ My AFT has a gap around the window but doesn't seem to be as big as you describe ..., a little debris gets in there but not much.....depends where I park...
....I presume the roof doesn't leak?

I am not 100%, but I dont think there is a seal, just a gap for moss/debris to collect

Shows a seal but if the drawing is anything to go by it is underneath...

Well here's a picture of ours. The gap is the depth of the glass and about 4mm wide max.

Just did a jet wash up there and it was full of the customary green algae. Recently went to a chandlery and bought some thick boat wax specific for keeping the green stuff off for as long as possible. As the roof is made of some kind of gelcoat thought I would give it a try. Will let you know if it works miracles.
