Fuel Gauge misreading

Post by Mikey B » Sun Feb 22, 2009 7:47 pm

Filled the Bongo up today, but the gauge is only reading half full. Its a 95 machine 4wd.
Any ideas how to fix it?
In the short term I know I can do approx 300km by using the trip.

Quick info save the search, slide the middle seats forward and the rear ones back as far as they can go, grab the carpet on the drivers, slide between the seats and pull like hell, this will expose the cover plate with the earth unit. I made a second earth after cleaning it all as a back up.

I am in the process of running a secondary earth from the sender unit, just 1 question as I know that Japanese have their own coulour codes for wiring, is the earth the yellow & green or the red & black wire? I know it might be a stupid question but want to get it right.

Have attached to the black and red wire and earthed to the seat rail bolts, but tank is only reading 1/4 full. Have only done 250 km from full. Maybe I'll have o fill it up and ses if needle moves to the top

Have just put fuel in 30 litres now reading almost full but usually takes time to rise to full tank..
Will give it a couple of days to see if its fixed - fingers crossed.
