Reversing Lights
Has anyone fitted any bright lights to the rear to aid reversing, I am fed up with the really poor lights on the bongo, compared to my rover and astra they are like candles, I want to fit a spot lamp and wire into the reverse, or..has anyone fitted brighter bulbs and if so please what ones.

Re: Reversing Lights
Someone . . . . memory fades here, has fitted a pair of Simon Jones rectangular lamps flush in the rear bumper.
Hands up anyone?

Re: Reversing Lights
Other than BDC, I couldn't find anyone else that had done it, this may give you an idea though David - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ts#p257435 I've got a couple of Simon's lights ready to go, but they keep getting bumped down the round tuit list

I'm going to fit an extra light to match the flush fog lamp - got it off ebay ages ago.

Re: Reversing Lights
Still happy with my LED replacement lamps.
If maximum is 24w, you can get a lot of LED's for your 24watt's.

Re: Reversing Lights
Good link
If I read the SI right then that means 48W in total?
Quote: The total wattage of any one reversing lamp shall not exceed 24 watts
I have to reverse through a narrow gateway to park so more light would be handy...Dandy?

Re: Reversing Lights
Thats how I see it - 24W per lamp - if your vehicle is over 6 metres long you can have 4 reversing lamps at 24w each - strech Bongo anyone??

Re: Reversing Lights
I wonder if that applies if it's not actually a reversing light ie not switched in conjunction with the fitted reverse lights, just a switchable rear facing light? I've got mot tomorrow, I'll try & remember to ask what their take is on it.

Re: Reversing Lights
I used to have a couple of extra "danglies" with clear lenses and bulbs, individually switched, so i could use them when i needed em. (red bulbs fitted for fog use) Danglies are by their nature quite prone to knocks though, so i changed em to flush lamps. Works well for me.

I have new shape bongo lights at the rear now, which are much brighter than the older type when reversing.

Re: Reversing Lights
Hi
It is legal to have lights that only work with the ignition off . Therefore you can use rear mounted worklights on a landie, or a pickup, etc. Mount your 55 watt reversing light with a switch in the cab that will control with ignition off , and another hidden changeover switch that will activate it with the reversing lights ( and pretend that I didn't write this)
Cheers
Helen

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
