Ran out of juice.
Rang Wheelquick to check if I should just fill her up or not - he reckoned go for it.
Did it, everything fine. Drove to garage and filled up proprerly.
Drove most of the way home and she gave up
I am guessing junk is in there. I could do without it today though. Tell it to get out! I really need the car!
Worse bit Iand ironic bit) is that she isn't parked straight - her back end is stickin out - and you so know she is going to lose the same lights as last time
I have walked home for the loo and I will head back soon. I am only about half a mile from home thank goodness.

Re: Dydo is in trouble
It's probably just a fuel filter change needed
Pick up in the tank may have got blocked, may be worth getting them to blow it back through before they go for any of the more expensive options
Fingers crossed for you

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Dydo is in trouble
I am hoping that thats all it is - something nice and simple like a little bit of dirt. There is plenty in my house so a little bit in the bongo would make a nice change.missfixit70 wrote:It's probably just a fuel filter change neededPick up in the tank may have got blocked, may be worth getting them to blow it back through before they go for any of the more expensive options

I have sent her off to Wheelquick though as I don't want strangers touching her. Rermember - never let strangers touch you!

Re: Dydo is in trouble
I am now feeling very angry with myself and a little bit angry with someone else too!
Although I always carried petrol when driving other cars, I never got round to getting a diesel can to carry spare for Dydo - how I wish I had.
I was lucky enough this morning when disaster struck to be only half a mile from a pump. So off I toddled and asked the nice lady for diesel in a can and that's what I got. The problem is - I was cold and tired and quite p*****d off and didn't think twice when she gave me a green can.
The car started and drove ok to Tesco to fill up properly. I then got out the can and filled it up and filled up my tank too - of course - I now realised I matched the hose to the can colour automatically without even thinking about it. I didn't even realise I had done it!
Today I have literally flushed £70 down the drain!!! and that's before its better, which it will be shortly.

Re: Dydo is in trouble
oops you filled it with £70 of petrol?
how much to drain it?
how much to drain it?
Re: Dydo is in trouble
I filled it with 5 litres of diesel. I then must have filled it to the top with petrol after filling the green can from the green pump. I have never ever put the wrong fuel int he wrong car - even when driving one of each! but the can must have thrown me and I think it was just the end of a bad week - my brain is clearly not functioning. I didn't even realise I had done it!!westonwarrior wrote:oops you filled it with £70 of petrol?

I don't know how much to drain it - I dont talk money with Mike. I tell him if its the sort of money I need to know about, let me know, if not, just do it. I trust him not to rip me off and have never been let down yet. I am more annoyed about the wasted fuel and really annoyed that she gave me a green can and that I was too tired to say anything about the green can than the cost of the work although I suppose that's irrational.
Re: Dydo is in trouble
Okay, so it's not just me then! I left home early this morning (lots of snow) to get to work on time, intending to call at the garage for some fuel. When I got there they were completely out of diesel! I drove to work as I was running out of time. On the way home I was on a very busy roundabout and the Bongo died on me. Luckily, I have a friend with a landy and loads of towing kit, so I called him and and he came straight out. I was only about 2 miles from home. I then called the Police as it seemed no-one was driving with their eyes open and I was worried there was going to be an accident (to those people who pushed their horn as they went past - are you blind??!!! Morons!). My friend towed me home and we went to get some diesel. Took a while to start the Bongo but got there in the end. I've just had to drive the dog to the vet (not a good day) and it seemed to drive alright. I may check the fuel filter out tomorrow though, just in case (given what's been written above). The Police thought I was a bit dopey, but I did explain that the garage had no fuel and I was just driving to the next one!
I'll always be carrying some extra fuel from now on, just in case (and filling up much, much earlier). What a day!

Re: Dydo is in trouble
Is should say that the recovery guy, Stuart of HM Recovery, provided by Europ Assitance (through lifesure) was superb. He was helpful and friendly and fast, gave me a lift home as I needed the car seats. Today I had no regrets over switching from AA to Lifesure. I havent had to be recovered for years and years but its something I never skimp on thank goodness.

Re: Dydo is in trouble
Main thing is its getting sorted, no one got hurt in this, you will have it back tomorrow.
We all make silly mistakes and get annoyed with ourselves afterwards, don't beat yourself up about it.
