Stuck side door

Post by gtmpaul » Sat Feb 07, 2009 4:48 pm

Hi,
our bongo has been off the road for about six months, tried to start it, battery flat as a flat thing, charged up ok and we are now up and running.
Problem is the side door is not opening, the handle seems not to activate anything, is it an electrical link or mechanical connection to the latch, if you lift the lock button on the door it makes no difference, central locking has been iffy for years and the door has always opened fine.
Any ideas?

Are you trying to open from inside or outside? I've been caught out with the childlock before  Luckily I realised before I took the door apart to investigate
There is a factsheet in the members area, I think a hearty thump in the right area has been known to fix it, but if the lock button is doing nothing, it may be a linkage has come adrift?

I am assuming it won't open from either the inside or outside - if it's just the inside, you've probably caught the child lock.
I seem to remember that a few strategic thumps on the interior panel have been known to work

All fixed,
Took door apart, mechanism out of sync due to flat battery
now fine

Nice one, so how did you rectify it?
