Hi y'all!

Post by here's johnny! » Mon Jan 26, 2009 2:03 pm

Hello everybody, this is Kung fu joe from St helens, I'm a martial arts instructor by trade, and have just placed an order with Enterprise cars for a lovely green bodykitted ford freda.

This will be used mainly for travelling to and from class, and the odd camping trip.

Nice to meet you all.

I own a blue VW transporter van that i converted to camper, but, due to it becoming unreliable, i have opted for a bongo.

I saw a car park full of bongo's yesterday at lakeland wildlife oasis,i wanted to pop over and say hi,but i was my work gear and thought better of it.

I'd like to show off my freda at one of these bongo get-togethers,how do i find out more about them?

hiya.welcome to a mad mad mad world.
you should have popped over we dont mind work gear -dont recall any of us being dressed up - except gillian with her mad scotish hat.
There are official club meets - pending -tough northerners in vests march in northumberland -(its ok vests not compulsory but i would sugest thermal for this one)-
You can join the owners club for a small annual fee and will get notices on here and official notification by e-mail or print depends what you sign up for.Plus other benefits such as the shop discounts.
What you saw yesterday was an unofficial day meet organised by a northwest member - i stand to be corrected - but i dont think you have to be a formal member for these, just a bongo nut - keep looking in the northwest and yorkshire sections as we have ditched the wars of the roses and often combine meets. As i am totally addicted to this site i tend to go to "view last posts" on a daily basis and pick them up there.

Hi Kung Fu Joe,

You definitely should have stopped by, there was too much haggis for us all to eat :D

The NW (and some national) meets are conveniently lumped together HERE so you can see which dates or type of event suit you

Welcome to the strange world of Bongos

Welcome Kung Fu Joe - hope you have lots of reliable fun with the Bongo. Like any car, they can be a nightmare, but bought wisely and maintained properly, the Bongo seems to be an outstandingly reliable and durable mount (had my 13yrs old one for 2.5yrs, done lots of miles and its more reliable than any other car I've ever had including from new)! 8)

Many thanks for your replies,i can't wait to pick up my bongo so i can get myself along to one of your get togethers.

I've had a rummage through the site, and it has given me many ideas to do do things with my bongo.

Looks like i'll have to take out another loan to fund My plans!

Yes di and jamie, that was me!

My neighbour is buying the dub, i've not got my bongo just yet, i have left a deposit on it, but it has to be mot'd and get an sba, and there is some bodywork that needs painting yet.

About 2 weeks from now i should have it. Is there a gallery on here where i can put some pictures on when i get it?

Welcome to the madhouse and congratulations on your nearly new nearly purchase.

You will be welcome at any meet and after about 5 minutes, I promise you that you won't feel like a stranger so don't worry about that. Each meet usually has some old faces and a few new.

Stick 'em on photobucket or similar then generate code to paste into your posts on here. That's the way peeps seem to do it on here. Look forward to seeing your pics. 8)

Strange :?: , the v dub that was in the car park had foreign plates on it. (i know which country plate as well)
because me and bigdaddys missus commented on what the young fella was trying to do, near the v dub and the other car they got into.
Lost without my Bongo.
