Hold Light

Post by Huw » Fri Jan 23, 2009 6:00 pm

Hi the hold light came on yesterday and stayed on, NOT flashing just on. Until we stopped the car and restarted then it went off. What is the Hold light for? and why did this happen? any ideas folks? thanks

I had a similar thing. Took me a a couple of mins to work out.

There is a button on the gear stick. when pressed the hold light comes on. This Holds the gear box in the gear you are in. It is used for when you are going up a steep hill and dont want the auto gear box to change up.

You pushed the Hold button on the gear lever - it cancels when the engine is turned off 8)

Agreed - I use mine as part of almost every stopping / slowing down manouevre. Well, I'm not rushing to have to replace the disc pads

Like changing down in a manual car & using the drag of the engine to slow the car, as recommended down steep hills where it says "low gear"
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

It can restore that feeling of control when used to driving a manual... It's especially useful if you are on a long, slight descent, with lots of bends.
