back bongoin after 6 months with new engine

Post by patjunfa » Thu Dec 25, 2008 2:11 pm

6 months ago our engine fried
We got a recomended mechanic who turned out to be a bit strange and take ages, but the short of it is after 6 months off the road we're back up n runnin :D
Engine from a mazda b2500. its a 96 van, engine from a 02 with 42,000 on the clock. €3000 for the fix in total. New radiator. He said the rad was rusty n pipes v tight so it overheated n couldn't get any coolent. He Said prob filled with well water a number of times for it to rust up so. That'd prob been happenin in couple of years before we bought it.
Unfortunatly he says we should still replace the water pipes. I hoped he would have done that when he stuck in a new rad, but we won't b usin him again. Have to investigate if thats a big job, n just keep an eye on coolent between now and then.
Great to be back :)

Good to have you back and sorry you had such big problems. Very interesting what you say about the rusty pipes etc as it may explain the problems of others.

Have a good Christmas and Happy Bongoing for 2009 8)
