Hawk central locking dead - any ideas?

Post by Lewy » Sat Dec 20, 2008 12:15 pm

After fitting this bit of kit about a year ago it seems to have given up the ghost. I've tried both fobs. I've checked the in-line fuse. I've run a live feed from the battery to the receiver and earthed it and nada. I seem to remember even if the actuator glitched the reciever used to make a clicking noise but not now.

I've looked for a reset button or some-such but again no. So is it goosed? Anyone else had any problems?

Ta - :)

Disconnect the lock/unlock wires from the actuator & see if you get anything coming of them with a multimeter when you press the fob..?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Am pretty sure there is nothing coming out of the receiver to the actuator - have emailed Hawk and will see what they say.

Must buy a multimeter!

Is the light flashing on the fob when you press it :?: , i had that prob the battery terminals are iffy in the fobs, my window closure just died last month for the second time just fried the booard  not putting one back in now can't be beggered :!: the white connectors can be an issue aswell the female side tends to push the wire out on some of them, i have a couple of hawk things, the techi guy is really helpfull so do call him. they just sent me 2 new front sensors for nout cause i was honest and told him i was sorting out an issue had the sensors danglng on the floor forgot them then damn well drove over them   brand new just fitted them, had to take em out again to swop sides crossed the wires #-o #-o #-o has there been water ingress at anypoint, there splash proof technoligy is s##t not that i'm saying they should be anywhere wet, there is no where dry in the doorskin, kick panel is the best place, failing that multimeter i'm affraid, i'm beginning to hate mine, i just leave it in the van at mo

Update - but still not sorted.

Hawk very kindly sent me a new receiver and fobs - should be a simple fix 'eh? But no...connected it but nothing at the actuator. onnected the live to the battery too just to check no break in the wire - still nada.

I'll borrow a multimeter from work this week but am I doing anything dumb here??? Anyone know which wires from the receiver I should be checking?

Also does anyone know if the passenger door lock and the drivers door lock are interchangeable - my drivers lock is really worn and is getting worse - thats why I got the HAwk bit of kit.

Thanks everyone
