Tracking

Post by serge » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:23 am

Hi all

Wifey has just taken the Bongo to have the tyres and tracking checked, and the nice man from the garage said that the tracking on both wheels were aligned at 6 degrees pointing inwards......being a Bongo he didn't know whether this was standard?

Anyone knowing the answer will be a great help, and in addition he suggested that as we have a full conversion tyre pressures should be 38 and 40 llb to make up for the weight, anyone agree??

Many thanks

Serge

Get it adjusted ASAP serge!

Alignment should be minus1 toe out to plus7 MILLIMETRES toe in which equates to approx minus 10 minutes to plus 1 degree.

6 degrees toe in will shred the tyres

Thats for 15s Mal - as most 16/17/18 have the same overall diameter these figures will be ok.
There's a fair bit of leeway on these ol' crates - parallel or a tad toe in will be ok I'm sure.

I'm guessing serge's garage are confusing their mm and degrees but you never know.......... :?

Think you have twigged what a thicko I am

Spoke to wife who tells me the reading was actually 6mm, not degrees.....but then I try to tell her what 8'' is!!!!!!! Mistakes happen

Am assured that at 6mm all is okay, but will get tracking done, so thanks for the advice, had a little panic earlier, and luckily wifey still doesn't realise how small 8'' is in reality!!!!

Thanks again
