remote central locking help needed
hi guys i bought a remote locking system from ebay to convert the bongo, then realised that i need an actuator to complete the sytem so i bought one of those aswell. tried to fit today with a mate of mine that knows more about electrics than i do(not difficult as i know next to sod all about electrics) any way we got stuck, the actuator came with no instructions it is a master system apparently and has five wires on it anyone have any idea what they do? also i can see on the fact sheet the central locking control thing but cant see which wires i need to connect the actuator to. i have used the forum search and cant find the answer any help gratefully received oli

Hi SB,
I believe the most people have used the two wire actuator fitting on the Bongo remote CL upgrade..
I know i did, You only have a 50/50 percent chance of wiring it right with just a blue & orange wire.
It can only lock when it's meant to open if you get it wrong.! Hope this helps.

hi jaylee
helps a little i think if i understand correctly (which is unlikely) does that mean if it only locks when its wrong that if i reverse the wires it locks and unlocks?blue and orange wire on the bongo or actuator? sorry to ask stupid questions but got really confused while trying to fit it earlier and its dark now so cant try again until tomorrow.
cheers oli

Re: remote central locking help needed
Mine is linked to the alarm system & the actuator i got came with no instructions, Just two wires running out of the actuator. One blue, one orange.
When i connected the locking controller to the actuator the first time, i got them the wrong way round so when i armed, it unlocked and when i disarmed it locked!
I only have one button on the key fob that actions my alarm/CL depending on it's status at the time.
I'm assuming you have two buttons, possibly three. (the third being a boot release).
So, if you press the lock button it should pull in the actuator which pulls the Bongos factory system down to lock.
I'm thinking (& i could be wrong) the five wires on your master actuator could be set up so one wire keeps the unit permanently live, two of the wires act as a negative switch to the controller, depending on lock or unlock, & the two remaining send a pulse to control the slave actuators on other doors (but you don't need those wires)..?
I must stress i'm not familiar with this kind of system, & might be of the mark...

Yeah, come on gang!
I wanna know if i'm barking up the right tree with the five wire actuator mire...
What colour are the wires Oli?

From fitting mine I think you're about right Jaylee, I'll see if I can find the destructions for mine (fairly slim chance
), I think I fitted the 5 wire one but only used 2 wires if I remember correctly.

hi all
colours on the actuator are green, blue, white, black, and brown.
also would like to know what coulours i should be looking for on the bongo central locking control unit.
cheers oli

This help?

Re: remote central locking help needed
You don't need to tap into the Bongo factory manual CL wiring, this should work independently & drive the Bongo locking system from the actuator rod..smashed bongo wrote:hi all

Re: remote central locking help needed
You only need to connect the blue and green wires of the 5 wire motor. Tape the other 3 up. The remote unit should have instructions to be wired for a slave motor and this is how you need to wire it. As previously mentioned connect to the existing locking mechanism using a rod and clamp.

Hi all,
This is Oli's mate...... Dave.... Hello.
Looking at the comments below, I have concluded (rightly or wrongly) that most people can only lock their doors with the unit because there is no way of reversing the polarity on the DC actuator. If this is a correct conclusion, I have designed a way so that the unit will work like normal central locking, i.e. you can lock and unlock from a remote unit using the output from 2 relays.
If anyone is interested in knowing how this is done, let Oli or me know and I will post a solution. Or you can email me on [email protected]
If I have missed the point, just ignore me... I'll probably go away..!!

If it's working right it works to lock & unlock
if it's not doing both, something's wrong.

Re: remote central locking help needed
I've beem thinking of fitting a remote C/L system and have the same question as Dave - how does the motor reverse to unlock?
I got a 2 wire actuator from Clogger a while back - with green and blue wires. i connected it to a 12v battery to test it and it draws about 4 amps
