Camping in Pub car parks.

Thanks to Cris & Jo for flagging up the idea of a list of Pubs that will allow a free overnight stop in their car park in return for buying a couple of drinks and a meal.

1. Find a suitable pub with a largish carpark and a quiet cornwr.
2. Park up with the sliding door about 3ft from a wall/fence/hedge.
3. Don't put out awnings/kitchens etc.

Always ask the landlord/landlady if you can stop over in a quiet corner explaining that you've driven far enough and would like stop to have a drink and a meal and not have to drive further.

If they say no then thank them and drive on to the next pub without purchasing any food or drink...this has only happened to me once.

I've found that pubs that do B&B may also offer you breakfast.

Nr Grange over Sands
(local to Harry & Chris&Jo (Pixie & the Moon)
Good selection of beers + excellent and reasonably priced meals.

But guys, be prepared for the landlady to pinch your n*pples and generally abuse you in the morning when you ask for a cup of tea (I kid you not). Amazing - I'm still smiling at what a mad lot they were (great though - you must go there before it gets taken over and gentrified)

this is a good idea, especially in England where wild camping is not really accepted,there is a website who want £30 year so then you have access to a list o f "motorhome" friendly pubs.....bit like France Passion

Be better if there was a free one or better still a Bongo friendly.......can we do something on those lines, I will ask at a local pub on Thursday, they have a good car park, do b&b as well and serve good food & booze....

We have always had a good welcome when asking, but bear in mind even if a pub has a good report on here the landlord may have changed, or just be away.

Rather pay for 2 meals than up to £20 to camp, especialy of we're travelling, arriving late and off early, not using any facilites.

Why, thankyou. Always worth pointing out that you have your own portaloo onboard, this isn't a concern for pubs with outside toilets, but if you address it first it counts in your favour.
